Meet Emma, a VLA health care advocate

Emma is part of the team that helps Vermonters like Anel resolve their health care problems.

Anel called the Office of the Health Care Advocate after he went to pick up a 90-day prescription and didn’t have enough money.

We investigated and found that he was eligible for a Medicare Savings Program and a program called Extra Help. Signing up for these programs let him get a Part D prescription plan, even though it was not during the open enrollment period.

We helped Anel apply. He is now able to afford his prescriptions and he has help with his Medicare premium.
