GENERAL INTERNSHIPS

InternshipsLegal internships are often available and are a great experience for law students and those considering law school. VLA will occasionally supervise attorneys needing to fulfill the clerkship requirements for the Vermont Bar.

Most general internships are un-paid, though VLA will occasionally be able to match work-study funds.

JOAN BAUER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INTERNSHIP

The Joan Bauer Internship is an annual summer internship devoted to working on the problem of domestic violence in our society. Joan Bauer was a Legal Aid attorney who dedicated her skills to the advancement of the legal rights of battered women and women living in poverty. Her family, friends and colleagues established the internship in her name. The internship is open to law students with a commitment to working on domestic violence issues. There is a $ 4,000 stipend for the ten week internship. Applications are due by February 15th of each year.

If you are interested in an internship at Vermont Legal Aid, please submit a cover letter, resume and writing sample through our online application below.
