Internships

Vermont Legal Aid — Property Tax Policy Intern

Vermont Legal Aid needs a property tax policy intern during the 2024 summer and fall semesters. The intern would contribute to the team advocating for changes to the property tax abatement and collection statutes. The intern would report to a Homeowner Legal Assistance Project staff attorney.  This is a six-credit internship, meaning the intern will spend two to three days a week (15 to 22.5 hours a week for a total of 400 hours) on this internship. Ideally, the intern would be pursuing a Master of Public Administration or Juris Doctor degree.

We encourage applicants with diverse backgrounds to apply - please read our Diversity and Inclusion statement.

The property tax policy intern would meet with the supervisor once a week, participate in policy discussions, would work on a public records request to all town clerks and analyze the results, support a legislative summer study committee, research laws in other states, and generally do whatever arose that is both interesting and useful to the effort.

Interested applicants should email their letter of interest, resume, and three references to hiring@vtlegalaid.org by March 29, 2024.
